Coronavirus - working safely

We are taking the threat of Coronavirus seriously. Whilst we are currently open for business, we have added a few provisos and modifications to our usual routine to ensure we minimise risk to ourselves, our team and our clients.  These new company guidelines, which will stay in place while advised by the government, are listed below.   If you are happy with our policy and are able to co-operate by helping us stay safe (e.g. by having different team members than usual; being aware that start and finish times / days may vary slightly; giving us written instructions in advance of our visits and advising us if you are unwell yourself), then we will be happy to look after your garden.

  • Do not attend work if you show any symptoms of Coronavirus (in particular a persistent dry cough   or high temperature)
  • Do not attend work if anyone you live with shows symptoms of Coronavirus
  • You must follow the guidelines issued by the government re minimising social contact outside of work
  • You must take more hygiene precautions than usual re hand-washing / sanitising / wearing gloves
  • You must not travel on public transport as it may be impossible to maintain a safe distance from other people
  • Details of your work schedule will be sent to you by text message or email You must confirm your hours worked to us each day by text message or email
  • Gloves should be worn when handling all shared tools
  • Team members who do not live in the same household must stay at least 2m away from each other  at all times
  • Start and finish times will be more flexible than usual so that team members can load tools one at a time.
  • Team members who do not live in the same household must not travel in the van together.
  • Tool handles and bicycle handles will be sprayed after use each day, even if gloves have been worn (you  may have coughed onto your glove and this could have the same germs as would be on your hands).
  • You must keep a safe distance from clients – and anyone else you encounter on the property at all times (2m – make sure you know how far this is!)
  • You must not use clients’ tools
  • You must wear gloves when touching clients’ property that they may also handle such as brown bins, garden gates etc
  • You must not enter a client’s house
  • You should not accept food or drinks from clients at the current time

While we are all well and the threat of the virus seems very low out here in the countryside, some of these steps may seem excessive.  However, it really is important that we all understand the possible risks and do everything we can to reduce them so that we can carrying on working safely.

Thanks for your support.
